What are the symptoms of an abdominal aortic aneurysm?

Recognizing Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Symptoms and When to Get Help.

Most people with abdominal aortic aneurysm don't feel anything until it's about to burst. When that happens, you might have:

  • Strong, deep pain in your lower back or belly.

  • Pain in your leg, groin, or pelvic area.

  • Feeling your belly pulsing like a heartbeat.

If an AAA bursts, it's a serious emergency. Symptoms come on suddenly and can include:

  • Intense pain in your belly, lower back, or legs.

  • Trouble breathing.

  • Fast heartbeat.

  • Low blood pressure.

  • Feeling dizzy or passing out.

  • Throwing up or feeling nauseous.

  • Skin that's cold and sweaty.

If you notice these symptoms, call 911 or your local emergency number right away.
